Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police say they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other marked cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state initial examinations suggest the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; officials are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for details.
An important political figure commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting people of migrant background in five years prior.
